内容摘要：

Researchers in Operations and Supply Chain Management are increasingly seeking to ground and apply their work in industry. This not only responds to stronger calls for impact, but brings much more satisfaction in our endeavours.

I provide motivation for getting Operations and Supply Chain Management “right”, and an overview of my recent research streams (in Sustainable Supply Chain, Retail Operations, Cold Chain Logistics, and Health & Safety). I then survey multiple research domains, frameworks and research ideas. To encourage new research I present multiple illustrations from my research, including “Optimization and ‘Changing the Givens’”, Analytical and Empirical approaches to Procurement Leadtimes, Logistics in China, inventory in China, Retail Operations in China, and Behavioural Considerations of Queueing in China.

The presentation should prove helpful to academics and postgraduate students seeking research direction, grounding, and application. The ideas presented can also be used in teaching, to inspire and encourage students.

The format seeks engagement and interaction, and will drill down on the areas of particular interest to participants.

主讲人简介：

David Robb教授，博士毕业于The University of Calgary运营管理专业，现任职于新西兰奥克兰大学商学院，同时也是UC伯克利大学的兼职教授，以及Valid Consulting Limited（咨询公司）的创始人，曾在清华大学任职7年。

David Robb教授的研究领域主要包括库存管理、零售运营、循环经济、食品损失/浪费、医疗保健以及中国发展问题。他在国际期刊上发表了45篇论文，主要包括Accident Analysis and Prevention, Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, European Journal of Operational Research, IIE Transactions, Interfaces, Naval Research Logistics, and Production and Operations Management 等国际权威期刊。曾在2015年和2020年分别获得了奥克兰大学商学院的研究卓越奖。曾获得新西兰奥克兰大学杰出教学奖和两次清华大学经济管理学院的教学奖。
