Innovation is pivotal in achieving an organization’s long-term in economic, environmental, and social objectives. This study delves into sustainability issues surrounding cooperative innovation within supply chain systems, employing a two-echelon supply chain innovation model. We examined innovation focused on both productenhancement and cost reduction. Our findings reveal that collaborative innovation significantlybenefits the entire supply chain. However, cost-sharing mechanismsalone do not always strengthen collaboration, especially when financial gains are a primary concern for participants. In cases where traditional approaches are inadequate, trust and altruism become essential in sustaining cooperative innovation. This study underscores the importance of fostering durable relationships and mutual benefits to maintain effective collaboration within supplychain networks.
